After applying for housing, students can search for roommates and the select their room during their designated time slot.

At Georgia Tech, you have the flexibility to either select a roommate or opt for a random roommate assignment. If you have a friend or someone you know you’d like to live with, you can request to room together. Alternatively, if you’re open to meeting new people, you can go with a random roommate assignment, which can be a great way to make new friends and broaden your social circle.

Room Selection

Students who apply by the designated deadline(s) will receive a Room Selection Number and a specific time slot to self-select their room. This process allows you to choose your preferred living space based on availability. At your assigned time, simply follow the provided steps to complete your room assignment.

Residents are permitted to room swap to find another available space on campus ahead of the published room swap deadlines. Prior to move-in, room/apartment changes can be made and/or requested online at My Housing. After move-in, room/apartment changes require authorization from the appropriate hall director.

Can I choose my roommates?

How do I select my room?

New first-year residents who apply by the designated deadline will receive a random room selection time ticket to self-select their room. You will receive an email just prior to or on the start day for the room selection period.

New transfer and new graduate residents who are selected from the lottery will receive a random room selection time ticket to self-select their room.

How do I participate in room swap?

After selecting your room, your plans may change for where or whom you want to live with. Residents are permitted to room swap to find another available space on campus ahead of the published room swap deadlines. For more information on how to room swap and the deadline to complete, please visit our room swap webpage 

First-year students that have selected to live in an apartment must contact the Housing Help Desk to request a room swap after the self-assign process has ended.

Prior to move-in, room/apartment changes can be made and/or requested online at My Housing. After move-in, room/apartment changes require authorization from the appropriate hall director.

Any improper room changes could result in a fee.
